چکیده

Linear economy models are no longer acceptable for the plastic industry and a change to sustainable circular must take place. In field of thermoplastic foams, biopolymer poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is suitable alternative fossil based foams like polystyrene. However, production PLA bead still challenge. regards products, reduction needed polymer additives aspired simplify union end-of-life streams. Flame retardants (FR) required in many applications often largest proportion additives. It turns out that removal FRs, example REACh registered FR hexabromocyclododecane polystyrene requires great effort. This paper shows require achieve class E classification construction products. Therefore, nine types analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, gel permeation chromatography, rheotens measurements. From five types, could be produced with two different densities. addition, containing 1.5 wt% alkoxy amine were produced. The flammability was investigated LOI, DIN-4102-1-B2, cone calorimeter tests.

Improving the Stability of Polylactic Acid Foams by Interfacially Adsorbed Particles

Polymers such as poly(lactic acid) (PLA), which have poor melt strength, are difficult to foam due to severe cell coalescence during foaming. We show that addition of a few percent of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles can stabilize PLA foams against bubble coalescence and collapse. The particles and a chemical blowing agent, were dispersed into the PLA by extrusion, and then foamed by he...

Polylactic acid-phosphate glass composite foams as scaffolds for bone tissue engineering.

Phosphate glass (PG) of the composition 0.46(CaO)-0.04(Na(2)O)-0.5(P(2)O(5)) was used as filler in poly-L-lactic acid (PLA) foams developed as degradable scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. The effect of PG on PLA was assessed both in bulk and porous composite foams. Composites with various PG content (0, 5, 10, and 20 wt %) were melt-extruded, and either compression-molded or foamed through...

Polylactic acid (PLA)

This website provides an excellent overview of PLA as a polymer, its properties, and manufacture. This web article describes the production of lactic acid from biomass by microbial fermentation coupled to a poly-merization process to make PLA. The article is a bit dated and its industrial projections are now seen to be a bit over-optimistic. NatureWorks is the company that started large-scale p...

Investigation of drug release from paclitaxel loaded polylactic acid nanofibers

Objective(s): In this study, drug loaded electrospun nanofibrous mats were prepared and drug release and mechanism from prepared nanofibers were investigated.  Materials and Methods: Paclitaxel (PTX) loaded polylactic acid (PLA) nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning. The effects of process parameters, such as PTX concentration, tip to collector distance, voltage, temperature and flow rate...
